Seattle has another reason to be proud of Lumen Field.
USA Today has ranked the NFL’s stadiums, and Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, has been named the No. 1 NFL stadium in the country. The Seattle venue topped a list that includes some of the league’s most iconic football destinations.
USA Today’s ranking comes ahead of the opening of a brand-new NFL stadium in Buffalo. The Bills are scheduled to move into their new Highmark Stadium on Sept. 17, 2026. Because the stadium will need some time to establish its reputation, USA Today left it out of the current rankings and evaluated the other 29 regularly used NFL stadiums.
So, what makes Lumen Field the best NFL stadium?
For starters, there’s the fan noise. Lumen Field is famous for its “raucous” crowds, with its distinctive cantilevered roof helping send the sound back toward the field. The result is one of the NFL’s most intense home-field advantages.
The stadium also offers something many football venues can’t match: spectacular views of downtown Seattle and the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape. Although the roof covers about 70% of spectators, Seahawks players still experience plenty of Seattle weather (including the region’s trademark rain on occasion).
Lumen Field has gotten even more attention recently thanks to its role as a 2026 FIFA World Cup venue. Hosting World Cup matches also brought approximately $20 million in stadium upgrades.
And football isn’t the only reason Seattleites know Lumen Field. The stadium is also a major concert destination, including memorable appearances such as Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder joining U2 onstage. We also love to cheer on our soccer teams there: the Seattle Reign and Sounders.
