You have until Thanksgiving Day to register for this Sunday’s Seattle marathon!
The annual UW Medicine Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon is back this Sunday, December 1 at Seattle Center. Runners, walkers, and supporters will be gathering for the oldest marathon in the Pacific Northwest: a Seattle tradition since 1970!
Seattle Marathon Association is a non-profit organization providing the best running event in the Pacific Northwest. This marathon began back in 1970 when a group of friends from UW decided to hold their own running events. From these modest beginnings, the Seattle Marathon has risen to become one of the largest, and most influential mass participation runs in the PNW!
The entire family can participate in this weekend’s fun. In addition to a family-friendly expo on Friday and Saturday at The Westin Seattle, there is a kids marathon on Saturday morning. Over 500 kids are expected to run Saturday’s 1.2 mile course at Seattle Center. They can register the morning of the race. Afterwards they’ll enjoy a finisher medal and post-race festivities including a hot chocolate garden.
If you’re planning to participate in Sunday’s full or half marathon, you must register in advance online. Registration for the Seattle marathon ends on Thursday, November 28. For those who aren’t able to join on race day, a virtual option is available!
