Seattle’s biggest beer festival is back this September! Tickets are on sale now for the annual Fremont Oktoberfest. It’s the perfect way to kick off fall in Seattle with your friends. It takes place across three days for ages 21 and up only. Don’t forget your lederhosen!
Read on for all the details before you go!
When and where is it?
It takes place from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21. The daily hours are 5:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. The festival will be rain or shine and is outdoors so be prepared to bring your raincoat if necessary.
How much are tickets?
Tickets start at $30 to $41 for one day. This includes a commemorative tasting mug (while supplies last) as well as beer tasting tokens. No re-entry is allowed on Friday or Saturday.
There is also a cheaper admission option called the “Festival Only Pass” which grants admission without the tasting tokens and mug. This is a great option for designated drivers and anyone not drinking. You can still purchase steins of beer at the festival with this pass if you want to, though.
Tickets will be available at the gate or you can buy in advance online.
Food and drink
The main attraction at Fremont Oktoberfest is, over course, the beer. There will be over 80 varieties of craft beer, German beer, cider, and more. You can enjoy tastings n a mini 5-ounce commemorative mug or purchase large beer steins.
There will also be lots of delicious local food so you don’t have to worry about drinking on an empty stomach. Food options will include Oktoberfest classics such as warm pretzels and Ziegler’s Bratwurst Haus. You’ll also be able to frequent more local vendors such as The Cheese Pit, Dumpling Tzar, and Mischief on Canal.
Activities
There’s more to do at Fremont Oktoberfest than eat and drink beer. You can’t miss the Stein Hoisting Competition, billed as “the ultimate feat of Oktoberfest strength.” Make sure to hit the gym if you plan to compete in this competition that involves seeing who can hold up their beer stein the longest.
There will also be the Texas Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving Contest. Unique to Fremont Oktoberfest, this pumpkin carving contest uses chainsaws. It will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Finally, there will also be dancing thanks to live music from DJs. Find the music and dancing at the DJ Tower during all three days of the festival.
Can I bring my dog/kid/baby?
Fremont Oktoberfest is for ages 21 and up only. Children are not permitted, including infants. Dogs are not permitted for most of the festival either, with one exception. Dogs are allowed on Sunday only for Dogtoberfest, and must be leashed at all times.
You can get tickets and more information on the festival website.
