Seattleites looking for a joyful way to welcome spring can mark their calendars for the Seattle Color Festival: Holi 2026, returning on Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Seattle Center Mural Amphitheatre. You’ll get drenched in bright colors while dancing to live music beneath the iconic Space Needle!
The free, family-friendly event celebrates the vibrant tradition of Holi: a centuries-old Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring, the end of winter, and a spirit of renewal, love, and community. Often called the Festival of Colors or Festival of Spring, Holi is known for its playful tradition of tossing brightly colored powders in the air and on one another.
Organizers say the Seattle festival drew more than 10,000 attendees last year, and another large turnout is expected in 2026. Entry to the event is free, but advance registration is required. When registering online, attendees can either choose the free ticket option or purchase color packets ahead of time to avoid waiting in long lines during the event.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors can expect hourly color throws featuring special guests, along with live music, a DJ, dance and cultural performances, and a lineup of local food trucks. While entry is free, most participants spend between $10 and $40 on color packets to take part in the festivities.
The color powders used at the event are non-toxic, skin-safe, and wash off easily with water. Organizers recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting colorful. White outfits are traditional for Holi, but not required.
Beyond the celebration, the festival also supports a charitable cause. Proceeds will benefit #FeedTheNeed, a program that provides nutritious meals to about 2,500 neighbors experiencing homelessness each week.
Open to people of all ages and backgrounds, the Seattle Color Festival invites the entire community to come together for an afternoon of music, culture, and color. Read more and register for free on the event website.
