Read on for all the details!
On Saturday, September 27 you can head to Seattle’s Chinatown-International District (CID) for this free, all-ages street festival. The CID Night Market runs from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Many of the highlights such as cultural performances will be at Hing Hay Park, but you’ll also be able to explore festivities along closed streets in the CID. These include:
- S King ST between 6th Ave S and 7th Ave S
- Maynard Ave S between S Jackson St and S Weller St
- 6th Ave S between S Jackson St and S Weller St
The CID Night Market coincides with the Asian tradition of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, which is timed for “when the moon is full and brightest—also known as the Autumn Equinox for the western calendar,” according to a press release. You’ll be able to shop for locally-made arts, crafts, and food from over 100 street vendors. There will be food trucks present as well. What sets the CID Night Market apart from others of its kind, however, is the free cultural performances. Hing Hay Park will be the stage for lion dances, K-pop dancing, taiko drumming, and martial arts demonstrations.
The CID Night Market was cancelled in 2023 but Amazon invested $250K in 2024 to bring it back for at least three years. “Growing up in the Chinatown-International District, I experienced firsthand how these cultural celebrations strengthen the fabric of our community,” said Taylor Hoang, Senior Manager for Community Engagement at Amazon. “This isn’t just about one day of festivities—it’s about honoring traditions, supporting family-owned businesses, and ensuring this historic neighborhood continues to thrive.” By attending this night market you’ll be supporting Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, which has faced challenges in recent years.
If you can’t make it to this September’s night market, there will be more events in the neighborhood that you can attend. The CID has a local book club that meets every last Sunday of the month at Mam’s Bookstore, and there is also an annual Lunar New Year celebration that will take place in February 2026.
To stay in the loop, visit the Seattle Chinatown-ID website or follow on @cidseattle on Instagram. You can also support the neighborhood from afar by making a donation to Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area on the CIDBIA website.
