The annual Record Store Day is this Saturday, April 12, 2025. On this day, brick-and-mortar indie record stores across the country release over 300 rare and limited-edition albums and vinyl pressings. The goal of the event is to celebrate “the culture of the indie record store” and support small businesses.
Many of the releases are RSD-exclusive, which means you can only purchase them on this one-day event. That’s why so many vinyl and music enthusiasts line up outside of records stores overnight in the hopes of scoring a rare, exclusive item.
Read on for all the details, including which Seattle record stores are participating!
First, you’ll want to check out this year’s release list. You’ll be able to see each release’s format and quantity, as well as whether they’ll be exclusive to Record Store Day.
Secondly, make a plan! Many people line up outside of record stores hours before opening—sometimes lines start on Friday night. So if there’s something you really have your heart set on buying, you should reach out to your local record store and find out if they’ll have it. And if they say yes, prepare to show up early.
