Seattleites looking to shake up their workout routine might want to head to one of the city’s most iconic art destinations. This month, the stunning Chihuly Garden and Glass at Seattle Center is hosting a special Mat Pilates class inside its breathtaking Glasshouse—blending art, movement, and relaxation in one unforgettable experience.
Since January, the museum has been offering a once-a-month Pilates session surrounded by the vibrant glass sculptures of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. The final class of the season is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, and there are still a few spots available for those who want to try something a little different for their midweek workout.
The evening begins with about an hour to explore the exhibition galleries at your own pace, giving participants a chance to take in Chihuly’s intricate installations and colorful glass forms. Afterward, attendees will gather in the Glasshouse for a rejuvenating 50-minute Mat Pilates session led by instructors from The Studio Seattle. Practicing Pilates beneath the soaring glass sculpture and natural light of the Glasshouse creates a calm, inspiring environment that feels worlds away from a typical gym.
The class is open to all skill levels, whether you’re a seasoned Pilates enthusiast or trying it for the first time. Participants should bring their own yoga or Pilates mat and a water bottle; all other equipment will be provided.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., giving guests time to explore before the class begins at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to adults ages 18 and up, and tickets must be purchased online in advance since space is limited. Get all the info on the Chihuly website.
If you’re looking to combine wellness with world-class art, this might be one of Seattle’s most unique workouts.
