Pike Place Market is getting a new after-hours vibe this summer. Starting Friday, July 24, the Market will launch The Night Shift, a free monthly evening event that invites Seattleites to experience one of the city’s most iconic destinations after the daytime crowds have thinned out.
Held on the fourth Friday of each month through October, The Night Shift will bring Pike Place Market alive after dark with local art, live music, food, and community. Whether you’re a longtime Market regular or haven’t wandered its cobblestone streets in a while, it’s a chance to experience the famous tourist attraction in a different way.
Presented in partnership with the Seattle Office of Economic Development and The Rabbit Box (an all-ages bistro, bar, and theater located in the Market), the event is also part of the Downtown Seattle Art Walk. Visitors can browse open artist studios and galleries, shop for handmade goods, and grab dinner or drinks from vendors staying open later than usual.
The evening’s main stage, located beneath the iconic Public Market Clock & Sign, will feature live performances curated by The Rabbit Box, while interactive art installations and pop-up experiences will be scattered throughout the Market. Organizers hope the event encourages visitors to connect with local artists, musicians, makers, and small business owners in a relaxed, evening atmosphere.
The schedule begins with a live DJ from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by headline performances from 7 to 9 p.m. Art and food vendors will be open throughout the evening, making it easy to linger and explore.
If you can’t make the July kickoff, The Night Shift returns on Friday, August 28, again on Friday, September 25, and finally on Friday, October 23, with the October edition featuring a special Día de los Muertos celebration.
For Seattle locals looking for a new way to spend a Friday evening, The Night Shift offers a fun way to rediscover Pike Place Market after dark.
