A large indoor pickleball club has opened in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. The Picklr, a North American pickleball franchise, launched its new location—The Picklr Fremont—at the former Theo Chocolate building at 124 North 35th Street.
The 27,000-square-foot space includes 10 indoor courts, featuring one championship-sized, fully enclosed court and outdoor-style surfaces. The facility also offers a pro shop and space for private events. The club highlights Washington’s connection to the sport: pickleball was invented on Bainbridge Island in 1965.
There are four membership options at The Picklr. A junior unlimited plan for ages 5 to 17 costs $74 per month. A $109 play membership is available for basic access, while a $141 adult unlimited plan includes events and tournaments. A family membership costs $308 and covers two adults and up to four juniors.
More than just a pickleball club, The Picklr is designed to acts as a community gathering space for the neighborhood, according to Rajiv Khatri, the owner of The Picklr Fremont:
“The Picklr redefines the sport with state-of-the-art facilities, all-inclusive memberships, and a player-first approach that welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned competitors. But more than anything, The Picklr is designed to be Fremont’s third space. A place that isn’t home and isn’t work, but feels like a community living room for players of all ages.”
The Picklr Fremont adds to Seattle’s growing number of pickleball venues as the sport gains popularity. Another facility, Pickle at the Palms in Interbay, is expected to open this summer at a former RV parking site.
This is The Picklr’s third Washington location, joining clubs in Federal Way and Tacoma. Company leaders say the Fremont site could become one of its top locations and serve as a flagship.
