Pumped for National Ice Cream Day, Seattle?
We are too. We did a little digging to see if any of our favorite ice cream shops are offering special promotions in honor of the holiday that dates back to 1984. As it turns out, several local ice cream shops in Seattle are offering free ice cream, discounts, and more this Sunday!
Here is where you can celebrate National Ice Cream Day in Seattle this weekend:
1. The Pastry Project, Pioneer Square
The Pastry Project in Pioneer Square has a seasonal soft serve window every summer with treats that we can’t get enough of. This Sunday they’re once again teaming up with WA Dairy Farmers to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. When the soft serve window opens at noon on Sunday, July 20, the first 100 people in line get a free classic sundae made entirely with local dairy.
2. Salt & Straw, Ballard & Capitol Hill
Salt & Straw is celebrating National Ice Cream Day all week leading up to Sunday, July 20! On Thursday, July 17, there’s a deal made for everyone with a mini-me in tow: you can get a free kids scoop if you buy a double scoop for yourself. We will update this post with each day’s promotion (and they will be available at all scoop shops).
3. Wendy’s, multiple locations
Raise your hand if you love dipping Wendy’s fries in a Frosty. You can get a free small Frosty from Wendy’s with the purchase of anything through their app on National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 20.
4. Molly Moon’s Ice Cream, multiple locations
You can find Molly Moon’s Handmade Ice Cream at multiple locations around the Seattle area, including new scoop shops in West Seattle and in Seattle’s Waterfront Park. Last year Molly Moon offered a surprise gift with purchase in honor of National Ice Cream Day, ranging from free ice cream to ice cream cakes and merch. We haven’t seen news of anything yet for 2025 but we’ll keep this updated if they announce anything before this Sunday!
Looking for more ice cream? We haven’t seen anything about National Ice Cream Day specials from the below places, but they’re still among our favorites in Seattle for cold treats if you’d like to check them out anyway:
- Milk Drunk in Beacon Hill serves soft serve and milkshakes in addition to fried chicken and mozzarella sticks. They’re open from noon to 10:00 p.m. on Sunday. Plus, their July raspberry and strawberry sundae flavor is available only on Sunday.
- Frankie & Jo’s scoops entirely vegan, gluten-free ice cream at three locations in Seattle. They just released a brand-new ice cream sandwich flavor this week!
- Fainting Goat Gelato in Fremont and Wallingford is one of our favorite gelato shops in Seattle.
- Shug’s Soda Fountain and Ice Cream is a charming and delicious old-school ice cream shop at Pike Place Market.
- Ice Cream Window is an extension of Temple Pastries in the Central District. The window is open for ice cream and frozen treats from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Have a sweet weekend, Seattle!
