Here are five ways to celebrate Martin Luther King Day in Seattle:
1. MLK Day March and Rally

When: Monday, January 20, 2025
Where: Garfield High School
Seattle’s MLK Day March starts at Garfield High School at 12:30 p.m. There is also an indoor rally beforehand at 11:00, as well as workshops at the school from 9:30 to 10:50. The mission of this event is “to tell our civic leaders that Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream is alive and well.” See more information here.
2. MLK Day at the Northwest African American Museum

When: Monday, January, 20 2025 from 10:00 to 5:00
Where: 2300 South Massachusetts Street
The entire community is welcome to this free, family-friendly event at Northwest African American Museum in Seattle’s Central District. From 10:00 to 5:00 you can participate in activities, find resources, enter giveaways, and explore two new museum exhibitions. See more on the museum website.
3. Free parks entry

When: Monday, January 20, 2025
Where: All state and national parks
Contemplate King’s legacy in the quiet of nature on Monday. All state and national parks are offering free entry in honor of MLK Day.
4. ‘Painting the Town Red’: An MLK Day Tribute to Billie Holiday
When: Monday, January 20, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: The Royal Room
Enjoy live music on Monday night as “a fitting celebration of both Holiday’s life and work, and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” You can make a table reservation if you plan to dine; seating for non-diners is first-come, first-served. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the venue is all-ages until 10:00 p.m. Get tickets here.
5. MLK Day of Service

When: Monday, January 20, 2025
Where: Seattle parks
Green Seattle Partnership has a few all-ages volunteer opportunities around Seattle on Monday in honor of MLK Day. You can register to help out at Lincoln Park, Magnuson Park, or Mt. Baker Park.
