If you love donuts and live in Seattle, you’re in luck. The Emerald City is home to some truly standout donut shops. We’ve tried our fair share of Seattle donuts and created this guide to highlight the very best in the city. Some of these Seattle donut shops require pre-orders or waiting in line for their unique confections, while others are old reliables for a classic, no-fuss donut. One donut shop on the list is even entirely plant-based. Whatever your donut hankering is, this guide will steer you in the right direction.
Here are the best donut shops in Seattle:
9th and Hennepin Donuts
9th and Hennepin Donuts aren’t the easiest donuts to get your hands on, but many Seattleites swear they’re the best in the city. The flavors rotate weekly but there are always four kinds of donut: a filled brioche, a fruit fritter, a cake donut, and a fourth wild card.
Their pickup location in West Seattle is only open three days a week—and although they save some donuts for walk-ins, your best bet is to pre-order online. You can also follow them on Instagram to see where their food truck is popping up next. Either way, you’ll get these donuts the way they’re meant to be enjoyed: hot and fresh from the fryer!
📍Address: 5604 Delridge Wy SW, Seattle, WA 98106 (and various food truck locations)
🕛Hours: Fri-Sun, 8:00 a.m. to noon
The Flour Box
Speaking of donuts that are difficult to acquire, The Flour Box is a donut shop and bakery in Hillman City that often has a long line—but return customers insist they’re worth the wait. The Flour Box specializes in airy brioche donuts filled with unique flavors that rotate regularly. Past flavors have included coconut pandan, passion fruit cream, everything bagel, and durian. They also offer other baked goods such as cookies and brownies, as well as espresso and seasonal drinks.
Hot tip: they often post on their Instagram Stories when there’s no line.
