Thursday, March 20 is the first day of spring. If you’re looking for a way to celebrate in Seattle, we have a suggestion: head to Pike Place Market and get yourself some free spring flowers. The market’s annual Daffodil Day starts at 11:00 a.m. this Thursday.

This will be Pike Place Market’s 28th annual Daffodil Day. It’s meant as a celebration and signal of the arrival of spring, so it always takes place on the first day of spring. All ages can enjoy a free bunch of daisies, no purchase necessary.
You’ll find the free daffodils outside the front of the market under the Pike Place Market sign (look for the giant clock). While you’re there, you’re invited to stay and learn about the local farmers who grew the flowers. According to the market website, “All flowers sold at Pike Place Market are grown within 100 miles of Seattle and sourced from multi-generational family-run farms that have been selling at the Market for over 30 years.”
After you get your flowers, we recommend grabbing some coffee at Pike Place Market’s haunted espresso shop or getting a bite to eat at one of the many excellent eateries at the market. Be sure to check out the new Overlook Walk behind the market as well!
Daffodil Day starts at 11:00 a.m. and runs until 2:00 p.m. or until supplies last. Don’t wait if you’d like to be sure to get your free flowers!
