Seattle soccer fans have a fun way to experience the World Cup this summer, and it’s happening at one of the city’s most iconic fine dining spots.
Canlis is turning its parking lot into “Kickback,” an 11-day outdoor World Cup watch party for 24 matches, featuring big-screen soccer and a much more laid-back vibe than the jacket-and-tie experience the restaurant is usually known for.
Instead of multi-course tasting menus, guests can expect game-day classics like wings, hot dogs, beer, and summer spritzers. There will also be vegetarian and nonalcoholic options available. One thing to note before you grab tickets: Canlis says they won’t be able to accommodate custom allergy or dietary modifications during the event.
Current available Kickback dates are June 19, June 20, June 26, and June 27, with multiple matches scheduled throughout each day. Tickets start at $10, though food and drinks are sold separately. Note that the event is strictly 21 and over. And yes, it’s happening rain or shine, because this is Seattle after all.
For longtime Seattleites, this kind of playful pivot from Canlis might sound familiar. While the Queen Anne restaurant has built its reputation on white-tablecloth service, skyline views, and a famously polished dress code, it’s also leaned into more approachable pop-up experiences in recent years. In summer 2024, the restaurant transformed itself into a Barbie-pink party complete with roller skating, live music, and pink cocktails to raise money for breast cancer research.
