Canlis is perhaps Seattle’s most well-known fine-dining destination. It may also be Seattle’s only restaurant with a dress code. This culinary institution has been offering upscale Pacific NW fare in a midcentury-modern home with a view since the 1950s. It’s also not easy to get into. Besides the hefty price tag of $180 per person for the tasting menu (not including tax, tip, and wine pairings), the restaurant requires reservations to be made far in advance. Right now, you wouldn’t be able to get a reservation until April at the earliest. However, thanks to the Seahawks, Seattleites now have an opportunity to get a taste of the Canlis experience—no reservation required.
Read on for all the details!
Canlis has placed a bet with Boston steakhouse Grill 23 & Bar that the Seahawks will beat the Patriots in this Sunday’s Super Bowl. The friendly wager involves the losers “flying cross country to cook for the other restaurant, the shameful wearing of the wrong team’s swag while working, and then hosting a fundraiser for the opposite team’s charitable cause,” according to the announcement on the Canlis Instagram page.
To include Seattleites in the fun, Canlis is currently accepting submissions for a game day giveaway! The winner gets the Canlis Super Bowl Party Box delivered to their door in time for kickoff. The box will be packed with wings, caviar, 7-layered Canlis cheezy dip, 12th Man-tini cocktails, and cupcakes from Cupcake Royale. The giveaway details are on the Canlis Instagram and the winner will be chosen at noon on Saturday, February 7.

If you don’t win the giveaway, you can still visit Canlis this weekend for an exclusive Superbowl-themed cocktail. Canlis has added the 12th Man-tini to their menu for a limited time only. From February 5 to 8, Seattleites are welcome to visit the Canlis lounge to try it along with food and other cocktails from the bar menu—no reservations needed! Canlis wrote that “if our little lounge fills up with takers, don’t worry, we have ways of making more room 😉.”
The limited-time cocktail is just another part of the friendly Superbowl competition, with both restaurants offering them as a creative way to raise money for charity. Boston’s Grill 23 will donate to the Seahawks Charitable Foundation for every cocktail sold—and meanwhile they’ll be serving the Maye-hem Martini with Canlis matching the proceeds with donations to The Patriots Foundation. Part of the fun is seeing which city can raise more money. So let’s show up for Seattle, the Seahawks, Canlis, and charity this weekend!
